Shane Fleury, CFA
CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER
Shane Fleury is a self-taught investor and CFA Charterholder who began his career in finance at age 19. He got his start in the mailroom at Nationwide, thanks to his mom who worked there. Despite never graduating from college and dropping out twice after just one quarter, Shane earned the CFA Charter without any formal math education beyond Algebra 1. While this is exceptionally rare, Shane would be the first to say that any success he’s had is by the grace of God. The journey required deep discipline, persistence, and intellectual rigor, and he gives all the glory to Jesus.
Today, he manages portfolios for high-net-worth individuals and families, non-profits, and corporations. His investment philosophy is simple: buy world-class businesses at fair prices and hold them for as close to forever as possible. Shane uses position-level risk budgeting and volatility-based stop-loss rules, rejecting diversification as a risk management tool. His approach is disciplined, transparent, and built to earn trust and confidence over time.
Clients often find Shane refreshingly direct. His guiding principle is to tell others what he would want to know if their roles were reversed. He strives to balance truth and grace, following the example of Jesus, whom he follows wholeheartedly. After years of being agnostic and hostile toward Christianity, Shane became a devout believer in 2021. His faith is now the most important part of his life.
Outside of work, Shane is a former junior hockey player who left home at 15 to pursue the sport in Utah, where he fell in love with the mountains. Today, he lives in Florida and plays golf weekly. But he still enjoys camping, hiking, and target shooting, and once taught himself how to play guitar. His ideal weekend includes time with his wife Chanelle, their daughter Chas, and their pets: Maximus, a Mastador; Mabel Jane, a pocket pit bull; and Dmitry and Constantine, two Russian Blue cats.
Shane’s story is one of grit, conviction, and quiet excellence. Clients who work with him often feel like they’ve found something rare: a partner who is not only skilled, but deeply principled.
